City Theatrical's Drop-In Boomerang provides an efficient way to change gel colour in a tight spot, such as in follow spots positioned on catwalks over an audience.

Like many products in the City Theatrical product catalogue, the Drop-In Boomerang is among those that is inspired by the unique needs of lighting designers and technicians working in theatre. In fact, it was inspired by Allen Lee Hughes and Master Electrician Chris Lewton while working on a musical at Arena Stage in Washington D.C.. Allen Lee Hughes recalls in his 2020 interview with City Theatrical: "Chris Lewton came up with this solution and created a prototype, which City Theatrical then built. Since then it has been used for many shows."
