"The most important thing I’ve learned while working at City Theatrical is the backend processes of this industry. I had been on stage as a technician for many years but had never thought much about what went into producing the equipment I was using. Being able to see all of the people involved in producing even seemingly simple accessories, such as a top hat, was very eye opening. I think it is helpful for the industry to understand where our equipment comes from."

"I never imagined what a joy it would be to work with this year’s interns. Every day they face the challenge of doing things they have never done before with a smile on their faces, constantly asking what’s next, project after project. For this two-day project, they managed to design, account for the parts and materials, install and wire a QolorFLEX NuNeon set up out of recycled LED tape for our manufacturing office. These two both have a bright future ahead of them. Any organization would be lucky to have them."

 LED Linear Lighting Installation Project

Project Goals:

To recycle used LED linear lighting, incorporate light into our manufacturing workspace, complete the project in less than a week to avoid interfering with manufacturing workflows.

Intern Responsibilities:

Take full autonomy over a project, from: managing an initial idea to a design and plan, cost and materials budgeting, meeting the challenges of an installation in a unique environment.

Results:

Christopher and Kyle were able to recycle an unsellable product into a beautiful and functional addition to City Theatrical’s NJ manufacturing office lighting. In doing so, they gained the experience of performing a difficult LED tape installation, like making 90-degree cuts, wiring LED tape to a low voltage dimmer, taking measurements, and keeping it all clean and professional looking.
