The new lighting design for the main atrium of the aquarium posed installation challenges because it included five custom manufactured truss rings, each suspended from the main beams at high points in the ceiling grid that makes up the glass frame around the roof of the building. This challenging location for the installation meant that installation team members would not be able to run DMX cable, and the project would require a strong wireless solution. To complicate matters for wireless reception, there was a large amount of metal enclosing each ring, which often causes reflections that create interference with signal reception.

City Theatrical’s SHoW DMX Vero Transceivers were used as part of the ETC lighting control system with all applicable hardware for ease of installation. The transceivers were enclosed within the center of each of the five rings and used Maximum Bandwidth Technology™ to wirelessly control the lighting fixtures on the outside of the rings, creating a colorful, luminous effect inside and outside of the aquarium.
