City Theatrical's QolorFLEX LED Tape Lighting and Multiverse Wireless DMX/RDM Technology in Back to the Future: The Musical on Broadway

 

Back to the Future: The Musical at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City opened on Broadway on August 3, 2023.

In addition to featuring the show in our Wednesday Matinee series to celebrate the show's opening, we talked to Head Electrician Dylan Webb from the show's scenery fabrication team at ShowMotion Inc. to find out more about how City Theatrical products were used to help bring this iconic story to life on the Broadway stage.  We found out firsthand in which scenic elements and scenes City Theatrical products can be seen during the performance, including:

QolorFLEX 5-in-1 LED Tape in Doc's Lab:

 

"For Doc's Lab in Back to the Future: The Musical, we created seven light boxes (US of set dressing) using QolorFLEX 5-in-1 HiQ High CRI LED Tape."

QolorFLEX HiQ High CRI LED Tape in the Clock Tower Climbing Frame:

 

"For the Clock Tower Climbing Frame (large clock) in Back to the Future: The Musical, we created a very large light box using QolorFLEX HiQ High CRI LED Tape, 2700-6500K."

QolorFLEX NuNeon and QolorFLEX 5-in-1 LED Tape, HiQ High CRI in the Heart Hanger:

 

"For the Heart Hanger in Back to the Future: The Musical, we used QolorFLEX NuNeon, RGB to outline the heart, and QolorFLEX 5-in-1 HiQ High CRI LED Tape around the perimeter of each letter."

Multiverse Wireless DMX/RDM in the Wireless and Battery-Operated Set Pieces:

 

"We used Multiverse Nodes on the set pieces that are wireless and battery operated, including Doc’s Lab Truck and the Large Clock Tower."
