Trade Show 2023 Season Kick Off: Cine Gear NY Expo and USITT23
Hi there! Al Crawford here. I recently returned from two weeks of trade shows during March 2023, having traveled to Brooklyn, New York for Cine Gear NY Expo and USITT Stage Expo in St. Louis, Missouri. Here are some of my thoughts, based on the experiences we've had at the shows.
Our industry is strong. We are in a renaissance of connection and technology.
We feel it in the City Theatrical factory every day, and we felt it on the trade show floors we experienced this month in Brooklyn and St. Louis. We are all dreaming, analyzing, and planning for the future. There's a rhythm to it, and it feels good to see the industry having this "renaissance" period. Looking forward to all good things ahead!

We had an absolute blast speaking to colleagues in the film industry in Brooklyn, New York at the first ever Cine Gear Expo in New York in March 2023, which was held at Industry City. For those of us living in the tristate area who haven't been to Industry City, it is situated on the water in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The Industry City venue itself was interactive and promoted lots of good social interaction! We had many great conversations with gaffers and industry experts alike.
The Industry City setting made it very easy to find places to grab a coffee and talk shop with colleagues, and meet many new faces. We were fortunate to interact with many of the movers and shakers in the film lighting world! Among them is our friend and colleague Steven Ramsey, who is an NYC-based gaffer and Chief Lighting Technician known for his work on films such as Joker (2019), West Side Story (2021), and Bridge of Spies (2015).

USITT | St. Louis, Missouri, USA | March 15-18, 2023

At USITT23 Stage Expo, we were able to celebrate one of the biggest USITT events ever had, this March 15-18, 2023. From the moment we entered America's Center Convention Complex, we were overwhelmed by the industry participation and excitement. From the line out the door to enter the complex, to every great conversation we had, the energy at USITT23 was palpable.

All in all, USITT23 was not only a great show, but a very memorable one for us, as our first USITT back to presenting our technologies with a booth since 2019. We demonstrated new RadioScan, Multiverse Studio Kit, and QolorFLEX technologies with lots of participants at our booth 992. We interacted with lighting professionals of all levels. We heard some great questions and feedback! And we send lots of lighting enthusiasts home with a pair of City Theatrical sunglasses. 🕶️
