Multiverse Revolutionary New Wireless DMX/RDM

Multiverse Product Family    We are proud to introduce the new Multiverse® family of wireless DMX/RDM products created by City Theatrical.

The Multiverse family of wireless DMX/RDM products gives lighting users a new range of options for performing lighting tasks more easily than ever, while producing less disruptive radio energy. Our vision of the new lighting world is one in which every DMX device contains a tiny, inexpensive, Multiverse Module, and where legacy lighting products have a Multiverse Node near them, allowing entire productions of hundreds of fixtures and dozens of universes to be operated wirelessly.

Multiverse Node

The Multiverse Node is the first building block of the Multiverse system. Each tiny Multiverse Node is a transceiver. As a single universe transmitter, it functions in a similar plug and play manner to our SHoW DMX SHoW Baby®, but speaks the more advanced Multiverse language. As a receiver, it is the primary receiver in the Multiverse system, and can be a part of a larger multi-universe setup. Its features include:

- Built-in 2.4GHz (for worldwide use) and 900MHz (for use in the Americas only) radios allow the user to select which single universe to transmit on, and which radio band to transmit on via the SHoW ID
- Single universe receiver that allows user to select desired universe
- A very simple user interface to set SHoW ID and universe
- Rugged cast aluminum enclosure
- A single dual band antenna
- XLR input and output
- A hanging bracket for hanging from pipe or truss
-Optional yoke mount bracket

Multiverse Transmitter   The Multiverse Transmitter opens a new world in wireless DMX/RDM. Its Ethernet input allows it to take in Streaming ACN or Art-Net and to transmit any of nine user selectable universes of DMX/RDM (five in the 2.4GHz band and four in the 900MHz band) while using only a fraction of the radio energy of any present day single universe wireless DMX transmitter.

The Multiverse Transmitter also has a built-in Bluetooth radio receiver that allows it to communicate with City Theatrical’s multi award-winning DMXcat app from the user’s smartphone. This gives the user smartphone control of any lighting fixture that is part of the Multiverse setup, whether it is a lighting fixture with a Multiverse module inside, a lighting fixture receiving its data from a Multiverse Node, or any wired fixture downstream of those devices.

The Multiverse Transmitter is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing for communication and control from tablet-based Wi-Fi lighting controllers, like Luminair. Features of the Multiverse Transmitter include:

- Four radios: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for inputs, 900MHz and 2.4GHz for Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM output
- Ethernet input for Streaming ACN and Art-Net
- All setup and user choices made with our free DMXcat app
- Rugged cast aluminum enclosure
- A hanging bracket is included for hanging from a pipe or truss
- Multiple user control via DMXcat app or Luminair

Multiverse Gateway   The Multiverse Gateway is a transceiver, and allows the fullest use of the Multiverse system. Like the Multiverse Transmitter, the Multiverse Gateway utilizes four radios (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for inputs, 900MHz and 2.4GHz for wireless DMX/RDM output), and Streaming ACN or Art-Net input. The user can choose which of the nine available universes they would like to broadcast wirelessly, and can choose another eight universes to output locally as wired DMX/RDM. Receivers on the Multiverse Gateway system can either be individual Multiverse Nodes for single wired DMX/RDM output, or additional Multiverse Gateways.

When used as receivers, the Multiverse Gateways can output any of the wireless DMX universes received on any of the eight wired DMX outputs, as well as passing along up to nine universes on the Streaming ACN output. Features of the Multiverse Gateway include:

- Four radios: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for inputs, 900MHz and 2.4GHz for wireless DMX/RDM output
- Ethernet input for Streaming ACN and Art-Net
- All setup and user choices made with our free DMXcat app
- Rugged cast aluminum enclosure
- A hanging bracket is included for hanging from a pipe or truss
- Multiple user control via DMXcat app or Luminair

Multiverse Module

The Multiverse Module is a tiny circuit board mounted device for lighting manufacturers that allows them to utilize all of the benefits of a wireless lighting system. Interested manufacturers are invited to contact City Theatrical for information on how to implement the technology.

Multiverse FAQs

Q: What happened to SHoW Baby?
A: We will continue to manufacture our popular SHoW Baby with its SHoW DMX Neo radio and it will continue to be available to anyone who needs it or wants to expand their present system.

Q: Can Multiverse products speak with SHoW DMX products?
A: Multiverse products have SHoW IDs that allow them to speak the SHoW DMX Neo language so Multiverse products can be part of a SHoW DMX system, but SHoW DMX devices do not speak the Multiverse language so they can’t be part of a Multiverse system.

Q: When will Multiverse be available?
A: Multiverse Nodes will be shipping in March 2018, Multiverse Transmitters in April, and Multiverse Gateways in May.

Q: When will Multiverse Modules for manufacturers be available?
A: Multiverse Modules for manufacturers are available now and we are already working with manufacturers to implement them into their lighting products.

DMXcat demos at USITT

City Theatrical’s DMXcat® Multi Function Test Tool makes it easy for anyone to control, analyze, or test any DMX lighting fixture, whether it’s a simple LED PAR or a complex moving light. The system consists of a small hardware dongle and a suite of mobile applications. Together, they combine to bring wireless DMX and RDM control plus other useful functions to the user’s smartphone. The DMXcat solves the problem faced by all users of modern lighting equipment: How to turn on and test DMX lighting gear without using a complicated lighting console.

DMXcat is now available in seven languages. It was translated in partnership with multilingual lighting professionals to ensure that technical and industry terms were captured appropriately in every offered language. Based on the user’s smartphone language settings, the suite of mobile applications will automatically update its written content to Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, or English, if the others are not selected.

The DMXcat app is available for iPhone, Android, and Amazon Fire.
